Hebrews 11:1,2,6 (NIV)
1. Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2. This is what the ancients were commended for.
6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Without faith it is impossible to please God!! That makes the definition of God's kind of "faith" very important! Verse 1 (above) tells us exactly what the God kind of faith is. Faith is being SURE of what you hope for, and CERTAIN of what we DO NOT SEE!

The King James version says it even better:

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith IS THE SUBSTANCE of things hoped for!!

If someone asks you for proof that you are born again, you cannot give any outward evidence except what the Word of God says! Romans 10:9 says "If you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you WILL be saved! THAT is your PROOF that you are saved. Your faith in Romans 10:9 being true is the SUBSTANCE of your salvation. It is the EVIDENCE of something unseen: your salvation!

BECAUSE you believe God's Word, you are CERTAIN of your salvation! That certainty is what allows you to SPEAK forth that you are saved:

2 Coruinthians 4:13 (NIV)
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak

PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your life-giving Word. Thank You for sending Jesus Christ to save me by His work at the cross. Help me to remember the importance of my words, and to be careful about what I say.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
