Five Religious Falsehoods

There's so much of man's tradition and dead religion out there, being promoted by the world, that the truth gets shrouded with complete falsehood. Here are five things every unbeliever needs to know about Christianity:

1. Christianity is NOT the 10 commandments!!

The ten commandments are OLD TESTAMENT. We are living in NEW Testament times! According to the Bible, the entire Old Testament law has been cancelled by God:

Colossians 2:13,14
13. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us ALL our sins, 14. having CANCELLED the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

There's only one commandment in these New Testament times:

John 13:34,35 (NIV) (Jesus speaking)
34. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

2. People are not "saved" by doing good deeds or by not doing bad deeds!!

Romans 10:9,10
9. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 3:21-26
21. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24. and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
25. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- 26. he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

3. God is not angry at the world, and doesn't want ANYONE to go to hell:

John 3:16-18
16. For God so LOVED the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

1 Timothy 2:3,4
3. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4. who wants ALL to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

4. The Christian life is a life of FREEDOM, not bondage to rules and regulations!!

Galatians 5:1-4
1. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 2. Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.
3. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4. You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

2 Corinthians 3:17
17. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Galatians 2:3-5
3. Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. 4. [This matter arose] because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
5. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

5. Jesus Christ Himself said that HE is the ONLY way to the Father. If you think Jesus Christ was just a "great man" or a just a "prophet", listen to what HE SAID:

John 14:6
6. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. NO ONE comes to the Father except through me.

PRAYER
Thank You Father for sending Your Son Jesus to set me free from the kingdom of darkness and sin. Help me understand Your Word so I can let You govern my life more completely.
