Acting On The Word
THE DAILY WORD

We established last week that the engrafted Word of God is able to "save the soul", or "renew the mind" of the believer:
James 1:21 (KJV)
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
And then once the Word of God is received, it must be ACTED upon!
James 1:22-24 (NIV)
22. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24. and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
One way we "act upon" the Word of God is by speaking out the blessings we have, over ourselves and others.
The Word of God causes us to look at ourselves the way God sees us. The Word actually convicts us of righteousness, reminding us that we are now God's children, and no longer live in darkness! The Word tells us who we are IN CHRIST!
First of all, the Word of God tells us that we as believers ARE "in Christ":
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NIV)
It is because of him (God) that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
So we can rightfully say, "Christ has become for ME wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption!"
The Word of God tells us that we are "dead to sin" and "alive to God":
Romans 6:11 (NIV)
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
It doesn't say we are GOING to be, or that we MIGHT be; it wsays WE ARE!! So we can rightfully say, "I am dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus!"
The Word of God tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God:
Romans 8:38,39 (NIV)
38. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39. neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
That means we can say, "Nothing can separate ME from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord!"
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit who lives is us is greater than the devil and all evil spirits:
1 John 4:4 (NIV)
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them (evil spirits and principalities), because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
That means I can say, "The Holy Spirit in ME is greater than the devil and his evil spirits that are in the world!"
The Word tells us we can do ALL THINGS through Christ:
Philippians 4:13
13. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
And on and on and on. As we feed on these truths of the Word, our faith will be built up, and no doubts or unbelief will then stand in our way when we stand on the Word of God!!
PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your life-giving Word. Thank You for sending Jesus Christ to save me by His work at the cross. Thank You for making me a new creation in Christ Jesus. Help me to "put on" the "new self" by receiving with meekness Your Engrafted Word, thus renewing my mind.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
