Peace

THE DAILY WORD

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ took the punishment that brought us (past tense) peace:

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

So according to the Bible, we ALREADY HAVE peace! Even Jesus Himself said that He left His peace with us:

John 14:27 (NIV) (Jesus speaking)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

So we already HAVE peace. Peace has not been promised to us; we already HAVE it!

"No I don't!" you might say. "The Bible is WRONG; I DON'T have that peace."

Well, the truth is that you do; you just haven't LET that peace rule in your heart!

Colossians 3:15 (NIV)
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

According to this verse, it is up to US to LET the peace of Christ-- that is already ours-- rule in our hearts!

So how do we do that?

Philippians 4:6,7 (NIV)
6. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When we don't feel like we have peace in our hearts, that's when we need to pray! We need to make a request of God in the area that seems to have stolen our peace. The result will be that the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds!

PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your Word, that tells me how much you care for me. Help me to not let my peace be stolen, but to come to you with all my problems, knowing that You care for me.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
