The Father And The Son
THE DAILY WORD

Hebrews 1:3 (NIV)
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
According to this verse, Jesus Christ is the exact representation of God's being!
Hold on... I thought Jesus WAS God!
Well, the Father is often referred to in scripture as God, even though the Godhead also includes Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. But it is also important to note that the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit are three separate beings!
Jesus sat down at the RIGHT HAND of the majesty in heaven! Did He sit at his own right hand?? And how could Jesus be an exact representation of the Father if He WAS the Father! You can't be an "exact representation" of yourself!
Many times in the Gospels Jesus prayed to the Father, proving Himself to be a separate being from the Father. Jesus also called Himself the Son of God. You can't be a son to yourself.
At any rate, all the fullness of the Deity lives in Jesus Christ:
Colossians 2:9 (NIV)
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form
Jesus made an interesting statement about Himself and the Father:
John 10:29,30 (NIV) (Jesus speaking)
29. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30. I and the Father are one."
Notice that Jesus first refers to the Father as "My Father" - a separate person, but then says that He and His Father (2 separate people) are one! That's because Jesus is completely united in idea, goal, and purpose with the Father, and is submitted completely to the Father, showing his complete agreement with Him.
The Jews answer to Jesus statement speaks volumes:
John 10:31-33 (NIV)
31. Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32. but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" 33. "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
Notice that Jesus, by stating that He was the Son of God, made Himself EQUAL to God! The Jews saw that if Jesus was God's Son, He was equal to God. By saying He was God's Son, Jesus basically called Himself God, since God could not have a begotten son that would be anything less than Himself in nature!
God the Father and Jesus the Son are two separate beings, but they are completely united in every idea, goal and purpose.
PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your Word, which tells me so much about You. Thank You for loving me so much that You sent Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son, to pay the price for my sin. Thank You Father for being my Father too.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
