Grasping God's Love
THE DAILY WORD

1 John 4:8-10 (NIV)
8. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
God is love. Love is not that we loved God, but that HE loved US and sent His Son to give His life for us, so we could have life! The whole gospel is about God's love for us!
So many times we forget about God's wonderful and abundant love for us. It is His love that causes us to love Him back. It is His love that will get us through any circumstances because we know He hasn't given up on us!
God's love is the single most important force on the earth. When we come to understand how great God's love is for us, we change. The problems we face in life look smaller, and we know that God will get us through every trial.
Paul thought it was so important that he prayed for "ALL the saints" to understand God's love for them:
Ephesians 3:17-19 (NIV)
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18. may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19. and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
The result of knowing God's love for us is that we may be "filled to the measure of all the fullness of God"! That's a great goal to have in life, and it only comes from knowing God's love for us!
Lets make it our goal to "grasp how wide and long and high and deep" the Love of Christ is! Lets spend time meditating on God's love "that surpasses knowledge"! It is only then that we can understand and receive the blessings we have as God's children!
PRAYER
Thank You Father for giving me Your Word, which shows me Your great love for me. Help me to always remember how much You love me, so I can spread that love to others.
