A Different Look At The Daniel 11 Prophecy

THE DAILY WORD

So why was yesterday's Daily Word about Daniel 11 ???
To set up for today's Daily Word!!

We saw yesterday that Antiochus was described in Daniel 11:21-35.

But Jesus Himself made a statement that throws a twist into Daniel's prophecy, and tells us there is DEFINITELY double meaning it:

Matthew 24:9-14,21,22 (NIV) (Jesus speaking)
9. "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11. and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13. but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
14. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. 15. "So when you see standing in the holy place `the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand-- 16. then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
21. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again. 22. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

Here, Jesus Christ Himself tells us that Daniel's "abomination that causes desolation" standing in the holy place would be a sign of the very end of the end times!! Antiochus was already dead when Jesus stated this, meaning Daniel's prophecy COULD NOT have been talking about JUST Antiochus!!

With that in mind, we must take Daniel 11 starting at verse 21 and apply it to the antichrist!!

Daniel 11:21 (NIV)
21. "He will be succeeded by a contemptible person who has not been given the honor of royalty. He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue.

Antiochus Epiphanes was more evil than all of the kings mentioned in Daniel 11. He was the Adolf Hilter of his time. He was a contemptible man. No other man or woman has been called contemptible in the prophecy of Daniel.

Antiochus was not the Antichrist, but now we can see that he is a picture of the antichrist. Therefore there are some truths about him that would apply to the antichrist.

Antiochus became king by seizing the throne of the Seleucid empire. He was not eligible to be called king. Demetrius, the son of Seleucus IV, was the rightful successor. Antiochus took the throne through "intrigue"! (Flattery).

Barack Obama was not born in the United States. He is not eligible to be president of the United States. He won his election with his flattery and intrigue. I heard some liberals I know praising Obama for how "well spoken" he was before he got elected. His campaign slogan of "Change" fueled the intrigue, even though he never mentioned how he would change things or what he would change them to. Intrigue.

Antiochus did not lead a bloody coup, but he obtained the kingdom by flatteries (intrigue). Obama was elected president of the United States by its own people: he took office through peaceable means.

Now we can get more meaning out of the rest of the chapter.
