1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
1. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2. for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4. who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
God desires ALL people to be saved AND to come to a knowledge of the truth! Think about the second part of that statement. God desires ALL people to come to a knowledge of the truth!
How is the whole world going to come to a knowledge of the truth that Jesus bore their sins in His own body at the cross, and that satan is out to destroy them??
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 (NIV)
17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18. All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19. that God was reconciling THE WORLD to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to US the MESSAGE of reconciliation.
20. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
God wants everyone in the world to reconcile themselves to Him. God has ALREADY reconciled the world to Himself; the world just needs to RECEIVE that reconciliation! Every unbeliever on the planet is just one prayer away from being saved-- which brings us back to 1 Timothy 2:1
1 Timothy 2:1 (NIV)
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for EVERYONE
PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your Word. Thank You for loving me so much that it makes me want to share Your love with others. Help me see the spiritual problem at the root of the outward problems, and attack that problem instead of the "symptoms". Help me understand Your Word more and more so I can let Your ways govern my life.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
