Ephesians 1:18-20 (NIV)
18. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19. and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20. which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms
Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus that they would be "enlightened", and know the hope to which God called them (and us); the riches of the glorious inheritance of the saints and His great power that is for US! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work for US!
When we feel weak and powerless, we need to remember that the same awesome power that raised Jesus from the dead is ours!
Just because we FEEL weak doesn't mean that God's Word ceases to be true about us! We are God's children; His beloved people; recipients of His glorious inheritance!
If a policeman decides when he gets up in the morning that he doesn't feel like he has the power in him to do his job, does that mean the cars won't stop when he raises his hand? Does he cease to have the power vested in him just because he doesn't feel like it?
We need to "enlighten" ourselves to the statements in God's Word that are ALWAYS true about us whether we FEEL like it or not! All believers can truthfully make the following statement based on Ephesians 1:18-20:
I am called to a glorious hope; the riches of God's glorious inheritance in the saints are mine, and His incomparably great power that is like the working of his mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead, is for me!
PRAYER
Thank You Father for giving me Your Word to encourage and strengthen me when I feel weak. Thank you for Your power that can make me victorious in every circumstance. Thank You that Your Word is true whether I feel like it is or not. In Jesus Name, Amen.
