Revelation 22:11 (NIV)
Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy."
In these New Testament times, we are told to LET him who does wrong CONTINUE to do wrong, and to LET those who are vile CONTINUE to be vile! In other words, we are not responsible for other people's moral actions.
We are each responsible for ourselves, and we cannot change other people!
Yes, we can give the message of reconciliation, and we should! But there are no guarantees as to the responses people will have. When people reject the Gospel, we are to LET THEM do it! The Bible tells us so!
It says: "LET him who does wrong continue to do wrong!"
To reject the Gospel is THE MOST wrong thing a person can EVER do!
Revelation 22:12-14 (NIV) (Jesus speaking)
12. "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. 14. "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city."
Notice that Jesus said He would give to everyone "according to what He has done!" Then He further clarifies WHO the people are who have done the right thing: those who wash their robes; which is receiving God's free gift of righteousness!
PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your life-giving Word. Thank You for reconciling the world to Yourself through Christ. Help me understand what my own personal part is in spreading that Good News; whether it be supporting ministries, loving the unlovable, or reaching out to particular people.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
