2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
According to God's Word, we are to "fix our eyes" on what is UNSEEN! The fact that our focus should be what is unseen proves that this verse is talking about our SPIRITUAL EYES! Remember, as we've mentioned before, according to God's Word, you have spiritual eyes, spiritual ears, and spiritual everything else!
We are to fix our spiritual eyes on what is UNSEEN!
The spiritual realm all around us is unseen! But that in itself is not what this verse is talking about!
Hebrews 11:1,2 (NIV)
1. Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we DO NOT SEE. 2. This is what the ancients were commended for.
According to the Bible, the ancients were commended for being CERTAIN of what they DID NOT SEE!! What they believed , and what they did not see, was various things God told them would happen! The ancients simply BELIEVED God when He told them something that was unseen to them!! And they were COMMENDED for it!!
Hebrews 11:7-11 (NIV)
7. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. 8. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
9. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
11. By faith Abraham, even though he was past age--and Sarah herself was barren--was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise.
These and many others pleased God by believing what He said, although it was as yet unseen at the time. Why then should WE have any problem simply believing the Word God has given us???
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Lets start off the New Year RIGHT; by simply taking hold of what God said in His Word and BELIEVING it!!! BELIEVE that you are more than a conqueror in Christ!! BELIEVE that you can do all things through Christ!! BELIEVE that Jesus took up your infirmities and carried your diseases!! GOD SAID ALL OF THAT AND MORE!!!!
Lets start doing what the ancients were commended for!! Acting like what GOD SAID IS TRUE!!! SPEAK forth the blessings of God about YOURSELF!! God MEANT those blessings for YOU!!!
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV)
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,
PRAYER
Thank You Father for Your wonderful, life-giving Word. Help me to always remember that You wrote it for my sake, so I need to read it and study it as my personal letter from You.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
