Psalm 100

(Written January 11, 1985)
Recorded in 1990 (From the album "My Horn Is Lifted High")

This is another song off my third album ("My Horn Is Lifted High") from 1990. This is one of the songs I recorded without my band at that time, the Mud Sharks. But Joe Gattone absolutely stole the show with his piano part on this song. People who hear it generally say they can see Snoopy dancing to it, and Joe Gattone may as well have been Schroeder. Joe was the worship leader at the church I was going to at that time; "Faith Center" in Park Ridge. Joe was (and is) one of the best pianists I've ever heard in my life, so it was an honor to have him play on this album, along with the other excellent musicians that played along with me on this album: Mark Abernethy, Doug Schoenbeck, Aaron Mejia, and Matt Mejia. They are all among the best musicians I've ever played with.

I played the flute on this song, and I played more flute parts on this album than any of my others. But it cannot be denied that Joe Gattone's piano part is what makes this song listenable.

The lyrics are quotes from Psalm 100. It's pretty much straight praise, but I think it fits the music very well.

Psalm 100 (Put to music January 11, 1985)

Alleluiah - Hosanna - Alleluiah

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth
Serve the Lord with gladness
Come before Him with joyful songs
Know that the Lord is God
It is He who made us, and we are His
We are His people; the sheep of His pasture

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise
Give thanks to Him and praise His name; for the Lord is good
And His love endures forever
His faithfulness continues through all generations
